Strategic Thinking

Innovative culture is driven by strategic thinkers  - Mike A.

Strategic thinking needs to precede strategic planning. In other words, unless you have developed habits, techniques and skills of thinking strategically, you can’t strategically plan for the future of an organization. Strategic thinking is an ongoing process. It involves a broad view (helicopter view) from above…it deals with ongoing decisions, issues, tactics and planning and more... (scanning). [1]  It’s critical, competitive, keen, and flexible. It can anticipate the future effects of current activities. [2]  A strategic thinker is a good manager who understands the vision AND the mission of the organization but is a forward-thinker too. These characteristics of a strategic thinker are essential in developing, implementing and evaluating strategies for the future success of the organization. Therefore, strategic thinking needs to precede strategic planning.
